You don't have to be a policy expert or an activist to make a difference.

The most effective opposition campaigns are built by ordinary people who show up, speak up, and refuse to let their community's future be decided behind closed doors.

Here are ways you can help.

1. Sign Up for Email Updates

   We send updates when there is something you can take action about. A court date. A ruling. A council vote. A hearing announced.

   Or when there is a development worth knowing about.

2. Sign the Petition

   The Greater Birmingham Humane Society spent nearly a decade designing a campus where sick, injured, and abandoned animals could heal. The Nebius AI Mega Factory would sit about 200 feet away.

   Add your name and tell Birmingham's leaders that animals need a healing environment, not an industrial-scale AI factory next door.

3. Follow the Courts, and Show Up

   The fight over the AI Mega Factory has moved to the Circuit Court of Jefferson County. Five lawsuits are now pending:

   • Oxmoor Valley residents Robert and Gail Sansome challenge the project under Birmingham's zoning law.
   • Neighboring homeowners have filed a class action seeking to halt construction.
   • The Greater Birmingham Humane Society seeks judicial review of the approvals and permits issued for the project.
   • Birmingham taxpayer Terri Michal asks the court to void the $3.2 billion tax abatement.
   • A Regions shareholder is suing over the $66 million land flip at the heart of the site.

   Circuit Judge Javan Patton Crayton consolidated three of the cases: the Sansomes', the class action, and the Humane Society's. The next court date is March 8, 2027.

   Court proceedings are open to the public.

   So are City Council sessions and neighborhood meetings.

   A room full of citizens paying attention changes the conversation.

4. Contact Your Representatives

   Let your City Council member know where you stand. (Click here to find your representative.) Elected officials respond to constituent pressure, especially when it comes from across the political spectrum.

   Be specific.

   Here are some questions you can ask:

   • Why did the Industrial Development Board approve $3.2 billion in tax breaks at a special meeting the public didn't learn about until weeks later?
   • Why is almost every meaningful number in Alabama Power's electric service contract for the site redacted from public documents?
   • Why has Nebius still not disclosed how much noise the facility will make in the audio spectrum that most impacts animals, or how much water it will use?

   Officials elsewhere have learned that voters remember. In Festus and Independence, Missouri, and in Bessemer, just down the road, officials who backed data center deals lost their seats.

5. Spread the Word

   Share this site and its resources with your neighbors, on social media, and in community groups.

   Many Birmingham residents still have no idea what's being built in Oxmoor Valley. The more people who know, the harder it is to push this project through without scrutiny.
